I am happy to join with you today in what will go down in history as the greatest demonstration for freedom in the history of our nation.
“I Have a Dream” is a 17-minute public speech by Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered on August 28, 1963, in which he called for racial equality and an end to discrimination. The speech, from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial during the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, was a defining moment of the Civil Rights Movement. (x)
